1. Headstand

Feeling ready to level up? The headstand is a breakdancing staple, but it’s important to take safety precautions when attempting it. To begin, kneel and place your hands on the floor, creating a triangle with your head in front of your hands for better balance. 

Lift your legs off the ground and engage your core to keep your body steady. Practice with a spotter and on a soft surface to reduce the risk of injury.

2. Windmill

The Windmill is an iconic move every breakdancer needs to learn, but it can seem a bit tricky at first. To begin, start in the same position as your backspin. The difference here is that you'll roll onto your shoulders while swinging your legs in a circular motion. 

Use your arms to keep the momentum going and continue spinning until you’re back on your upper back. The key to the Windmill is to keep the motion controlled and consistent, with no stopping in between spins.

3. Toprock

The foundation of breakdancing, Toprock is a standing dance move that shows off your rhythm and style before transitioning to the floor.

How To Do It:

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart.
  • Step one foot across your body and tap the ground.
  • Step back to your starting position and repeat with the other foot.
  • Add flair by swinging your arms naturally and keeping your movements fluid.

4. Baby Freeze

The Baby Freeze is a perfect entry-level freeze for beginners. To get started, kneel on the ground, lift one leg, and place the knee against the back of the elbow on the same side. Your free hand should help balance the rest of your body. 

The goal is to stay stable and keep your body as still as possible while you balance on your head and hand.

5. 6-Step

The 6-step is a classic footwork move that starts from a squatting position. To do it, move your right foot forward while kicking your left leg to the side. Then, slide your right foot back in while your left foot moves behind your right—creating a circular flow. 

It’s important to practice this move regularly to improve control and fluidity, so try it out at home and work on your technique. And remember, comfy shoes are a must for easy movement!

6. Cricket

Cricket is a hopping move where your body bounces while spinning on your hands.

How To Do It:

  • Begin in a crouched position.
  • Place your weight on your hands.
  • Push off the ground with quick, hopping motions.
  • Add a spinning element for more style.

7. Turtle Freeze

Another essential freeze, the Turtle Freeze helps you build up your core strength. Start by squatting and placing both hands on the floor in front of you. Lean forward, and balance your weight on one elbow while lifting your legs off the ground. 

Your legs should be tucked in toward your chest as you hold this position, working on stability and control.

8. Coffee Grinder
